Activism

I love to get involved in the politics and social life of my communities. From student government to queer activism, I'm always looking for new ways to make a difference.

Hamilton Pride, 2014

While studying in my hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, I served on the city's municipally-designated Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, and Queer Advisory Committee from 2012 to 2016. One of the tasks the committee sought to accomplish was a re-boot of the city's Pride Organizing Committee for festivities in 2014. As one of the individuals spearheading the effort, I assumed the role of chair to help guide decisions and build a strong, dedicated organizing committee that could help revive the city's Pride festival.

Upon deciding to seek election to the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board as Trustee for Wards 1 & 2, I stood down from the chair's position. The new chairs and the committee organized an incredibly successful Hamilton Pride 2014 and laid the foundations for a sustained organization that will celebrate the lives, struggles, and contributions of queer Hamiltonians.
